I've also read that thread and asked for help. If someone with some more knowledge can read that thread and give a laymans term of how to proced with flashing the gearbox it would be greatly appreciated.

Well its definitely possible to flash the gearbox via a £10 ENET cable etc but the process and the file to use is the hurdle at the moment.

I don't want to be the bringer of bad news but surely the silence from the experienced coders is telling you something?
This is not a job for a layman. It involves flashing software to the gearbox not just coding. And if you don't know the difference between flashing and coding, there's the next reason. Quote:
Most of what is done on this subforum is altering a few parameters activate /deactivate options or settings already present in the cars native software. You are embarking on changing the base software, like changing the custom firmware in your mobile phone by rooting it or jailbreaking it by putting Alpina software in a non Alpina model. If you get one step wrong, that's it ! Your gearbox is bricked, your car will go nowhere and your local BMW dealer will be rubbing their hands at the door when they have to put it right for you. Most, if not all coding can be reset to factory order (VO Coding) not with what you are proposing and guaranteed this will invalidate any warranty you may still have. If you are determined to do this get a professional to do it for you. At least you'll have some support if it goes wrong.

It tells me very few people have done it so far, in fact someone flashed alpina flash to a non alpina car. Oh dear I'm sorry I should have changed the title - ffs, it's pretty obvious in the post contents. I'm not going to mince my words, your post 'again' quite frankly comes across condescending and again only useful for stating the obvious - unless you have zero idea what it's about. How do you know that I've not done coding before on my own car. It's an open discussion, whilst I appreciate your input it's not really any use than stating the obvious. Lastly I may well get someone to do it for me. What experience have you had in doing this gearbox flashing on the F series platform? Last edited by Ajs_435d; 01-04-2017 at 05:14 PM.. |

Ill just add...
As someone who has flashed countless modules (progreammed, not coded) on my E series and a few now on my month old F series... Its not rocket science. Would I venture to do it as the first module I flash? Probably not. Would I do it if someone explained how they had esys select the alpina firmware? Probably. As with my E series, I went ahead and purchased a 50 dollar used replacement module (FZD works great, cheap too) so I can make sure my combo of tools work as it should before I tried anything that mattered. Back to the topic at hand: Would love to know specifically how to select the alpina tranny firmware as a replacement for the exisitng one. |

Just had a thought:
The process probably involves editing the FA and setting your vehicle as an Alpina type. From what I have learned so far, the FA is used to select which firmware gets flashed. I could be wrong if someone wants to chime in... |

See the thing is that you seem to imply from your post that you understand what they are talking about in the other thread but are unwilling to provide an explanation or help. I think this might be what Ajs_435d is suggesting about the attitude.
I don't think anyone on here DEMANDS help but we don't really need condescending answers as well. |

Well that's the problem with the written word, people always read what they want to read.
This may be a way of doing what you need to do THIS THREAD. The one possible thing missing is the Typschlüssel for the D3 and there may be issues over build date and I-Step. (and a whole load of other things) Maybe some alterations to the procedure will be needed to code only the gearbox. At your own risk.

Yep well that pretty much explains it.
Looks like assuming the HW is the same / 100% compatible, changing over the FA details to an Alpina type is the way to go. Frankly, I'll let someone take the lead and post a working "yep, I did it" before I dive in Subscribed. Thanks BTW. Quote:

I have a unlocked dme tune by BootMod3. Will flashing the EGS lock the DME back up?
