Passenger side Mat sensor
Have 06 325i; recently took it to dealership. Dealership stated that the passenger mat sensor needed replacing. I've been looking for mat sensor and write up how to do it. However, I have also found that there was a recall on the sensors for 2006 325i by the NHTSB, BMW stated that my particular VIN was not part of the recall. Does anyone have information on the recall for the mat sensor?
Also does anyone know if the mat sensor is a DIY job? Don't really want to give $1800.00 to dealership for what seems to be a pretty straight forward job. Thanks |

I believe the recall was for sport seats. There is a service bulletin that extends the limited warranty for 15 yrs of in-service date. I'm taking mine in on Saturday to see what the dealer will do. I'm sure they will try to find an excuse to not fix. I'll post back the result.
SI B01 09 14 is the bulletin. |

I have a 2006 325xi and had the exact same issue. It was done for free as it is a recalled item. Be aware, as part of the process they needed to update the firmware/software which took almost 8 hours.

I just had this exact service completed at my local dealership 1 week ago as a recall item. The mat failed its testing as there were some broken wires so the dealer replaced the mat and did the programming that Saberdave mentioned. The programming did take quite a few hours. $0 out of pocket expense...but keep in mind, my VIN did pop up as being part of the recall.

I have a 2006 325i and have the exact same issue. When I first heard about the recall months ago I took the car in and they said my vehicle was not covered because I didn't have the sport seats. So have anyone got the recall done that did not have sport seats.

Show them the SIB. It is for some e90s NOT covered by the recall.

Not sure on a price yet. Need to confirm my new used seats are good first. I don't have a good drivers side back. Mine is bad. The backs are a different part for the drivers vs passenger. Bottom cushion appears to be same for both sides. Do you have a sedan? The 2 doors use different parts.

Does anyone who's had the recall work recently done have the light beside the map lights actually light up saying that the passenger side airbag is off? Mine doesn't light up when no ones in the seat and I never noticed if it lit up before they did the recall work.
