Is it likely for main thermostat & EGR start to be faulty within months?

Hi all..
A about four or five months ago I had the main thermostat & EGR 'stat replaced due to low running temperature, max 65c on the motorway and in town / traffic was around 70c to about 78c.

Once they were changed everything was good running temps were high 80/90+

To cut a long store short after changing them parts months down the line I'm starting to get the same signs.. Not getting above 76c on the motorway and in town about 77/78c also the back box remains to smell like it needs to rengen after every use.

Do you think that one of these parts could be faulty already? Both parts were from main dealer not copies.

Today I took the EGR 'stat off to try and blow through it and it wasn't easy to blow through but you could feel air passing only slightly with cheeks puffed out. Now should I be able to blow through like this or not?

I'm sure that I read to different bits of info on this.. one saying that you should be able but only slightly and other saying you shouldn't be able to blow through?

Or maybe im missing something else that may cause this temperature to be low with other parts that may need changing.

Any info on this would be greatly appreciated. Cheers
