Is it possible to code out the trunk opening from the remote ?

Looking to see if we can code out/off the opening of the trunk from the remote to prevent the FOB opening the trunk while in your pocket. Has anyone done this yet ? I searched but didn't find an answer.

There is a setting somewhere to set the amount of time one has to hold the button on the remote down before the trunk opens.

Guessing you can max this out and at least make it very unlikely someone will attempt to hold the button down that long.

That's an interesting idea, thanks.

Why not flip the trunk lock switch to locked that is in the glove compartment?

All depends on what OP is after.

I'm EU so we dont get the switch in the glove box...

But I am assuming this locks ALL access to the trunk. Including the outside handle button and (if you have one) the interior drivers knee area button.

Best case would be to prevent unintended trunk openings occurring because the button on the remote gets pressed while the remote is in the pocket when bending / kneeling, etc But still allowing it to be opened from the release inside and outside the car. I never really use the button on the remote to open it. I purchased and tried the BMW MSport leather remote cover and it still happens.

Yep looks like this is as close to a solution as you will get:

FEM_BODY 3040 CLM_TIMEOUT_HK_SMO Change the Comfort Access trunk opening delay. (HEX value by 0.1 secs)

Unless you are brave enough to open up your remote and unsolder or block the button.

EDIT : Should note, I am not 100% sure if this is the correct setting. This may not be it. I am sure this exist though. I have it coded in my E92 M3. I found the opposite... Annoying that I had to hold the button down for so long to get the trunk to pop open.

I don't have an answer for you but I can sympathise having had the same problem with finding all the windowss open one morning. I was able to code out that option so there maybe a similar option for the trunk

Tried this afternoon, setting the value to 00 vs 01 hoping it might disable, but it didn't. Just took the opening delay out so it popped right open.

Look in HKFM. There are settings there as well.

Did you try going in the opposite direction and making it much higher number, like 09? Not sure what the top value of the range is, but definitely lowering it reduces the delay, not what you're after.

Exactly.

Also worth mentioning, even if a value is not there, you can try entering a custom value for 60 seconds or something.

First try the highest value, let the car sleep a few minutes and see if it helps.

If it does, keep going up with custom values until you reach a point you feel comfortable with.

I changed the wert value from 01 to 00. The only two options available. I think y'all are referring to the Werte value which is default to 05 in my case.

When wert was changed to 00, Werte also changed to 00. My assumption here is wert is a delay on or off (01 or 00) As it turns out there was no delay with that setting, the trunk popped right open.

I could be off base here, but if Werte is a delay setting then increasing the number is only going to delay how long it takes before the trunk pops open after the button is pressed, not stop it from opening, which is the goal I'm after. Would you agree, or am I looking at it wrong ?

Yes. Its going to increase the time needed to hold the button.

That being said, if you are able to increase it to lets say 30 seconds, you'll be pretty close to what you are after.

Try changing the value to 10 by right clicking Werte and editing it to 10.

See if that increases the time you have to hold the button.

Those values are usually in hex ( http://www.binaryhexconverter.com/de...-hex-converter ).

So for example, 30 would be:

1E

Also, they are usually fractions of a second. So with 1E (30) as an example, it could be 30 x 0.5, or something along those lines.

Note : Just to be clear, those Werte values can be modified even if its not one of the "choices". You can set manual values in there by editing them manually by doing the right click -> edit I mentioned. As always, proceed at your own risk. I have NEVER EVER had any issues setting custom values (even with things like how soon the alternator should switch on when car starts, etc)...

Thanks guys, will give it a try and see what the result is. Even if it gets funky it can be flashed back to default.

Minor update, I had one chance at lunch yesterday to try it and edited Werte value to 10. (vs 05) and that pushed the trunk opening delay to something to between 3 and 4 seconds. I could stand there holding the button down for a good count to 3 and it would not open, repeated it several times. But about the time I counted to 4 it would pop open.
So some forward progress, and that by itself would solve any momentary presses occurring. But I would like to see if it will go longer. It's possible for some reason there's a "max" value / time and any larger setting won't make any difference. But I'd feel more comfortable with at least double that time.

Yes.

It is possible there is a max value programmed in.

Eg:

If werte > X, set to X regardless.

At least this was the case with my E series.

Give "64" a shot.

64 = 100 in decimal. So that SHOULD give you 100 x 0.1 seconds.

If it only gives you the 3-4 seconds you mentioned, then there is a max value programmed into the module.

Looks like I may have already hit it. Tried Werte 1E and also 30 this afternoon and in both cases it's stayed between 3 and 4 seconds to open, so I may simply have to live with that and see how it goes. But I do appreciate the assistance with getting it to this point. One more little note in the coding of the car.
