Before flashing ECU with ESYS...
As i am pushing the start button in the TAL processing screen in Esys, I get a warning that the VCM Istep will be updated.
Is this desirable? Should it be avoided? Would my dealer object to it, void warranty etc? Thanks!

It is recommended to either have update VCM selected part of E-sys or write changes to VCM manually after flashing. Otherwise, when reading ECU / VCM, it will show incorrect firmware on SVT tree.

I mean I understand the IStep in VCM to be global, so if only one module is on the most recent version, does it make sense to update the VCM Istep
