FreciousPlus Cabin Air Filter by mann

Has anyone tried these yet? If so, how does it compare to regular charcoal filter?

The standard Mann filter is $15 cheaper, and you'd never know the difference.

GO OEM

I even wonder if :

* the allergen filter puts a higher load on the blower motor
* requires replacement more often than the std charcoal filter

I have it, and it seems to take longer for the heater to blow warm air after start up.

i don't think that filter has anything to do with your perceived issue. Filter just filters out the air passing though it. I could affect velocity / volume of air coming in, but that wouldn't affect heating.

The biggest noticeable difference between various filters would be ability to filter out smells, pollen, and other pollutants.

Garage List
I used to detail cars and I had a client that constantly warned me about opening her windows or leaving the doors open too long.

I just reuse the one in the car. When the CBS calls for a change I just take the filter out and blow it clean with compressed air. Replacing with a new filter is a waste of money IMO.

If you are in low pollen / pollution are, that might work. But for $20, it's not worth going though all that trouble.

I ordered Fercious filter for my GTI. It should be here early next week, so I can verify results.

Currently GTI sucks in all fumes from outside and stinks up the cabin (even on recycle).

It's $20.

Do you also fill up with 87 to save a few bucks?

I was thinking of downsizing the cabin filter to save 10 pounds and have a washable filter:

http://www.burgertuning.com/cowl_fil...w_135_335.html

I doubt if these filter as much as the OEM cabin filter, but it might be good enough. I have a concern about water getting the filter soaked.

335 might be more sensitive to it, especially with bad coils, etc. 328 not as much. You might have some rough idle issues, and not as much power, but the car will run just fine.

I use highest octane available, but if I had no choice, I wouldn't be afraid to put 87 in it. 91 is recommended, not mandatory.

I think if they offered them with charcoal option, they could be viable option for DD car.

that burger tuning filter looks interesting--might have to give that a try once my oem filter gets dirty. I would be worried about water penetration issue as well since we're taking off covers for sensors and whatnot.

The cabin air filter is arguably one of the least important components in a car. For a while, Acuras required you to physically cut pieces under the dash to replace it.

I wonder how much weight is saved converting to the M3 filters.
