Bugger didn't realise it was a battery disconnect and airbag off!!
I'm going to have it carbon fibre trimmed like all my other dash pieces, and the silver bit of the gear surround. like this |

Start at the top, rear and carefully prise. Work your way down then you'll end up at the bottom. Did the same with mine and no issues. I'll try and dig out the thread.

Seriously mate, it's simple so long as you plan what you're doing and take your time. Rather than remove airbag! Spend time looking at pics of the Y piece from part number searches on google and you'll be fine. I did that and had no issues. The worry you may have with removing airbag is wondering if you'd refitted correctly.

I have to admit the steering wheel silver insert was a pain in the arse, make sure you use a sticky carbon wrap which is also thin.
Also dont apply too much heat, the clips are crap and flimsy as it is. |

I thought it will be very hard but I took mine off was very easily , all you need to remember do not pull if you think it doesn't want to .
Caz, you are right not too much heat you will ruin shape of film and lose stickiness too , it took me 5 mins to do it. I will try to make video but busy until so will try Sunday afternoon and upload |

Cheers guys for the info, defo going down the safe route. I have a spare that I'm getting done for me (proper carbon fibre trimming like my other bits, not wrapped). At least the safe way I can get the one off my car without damage
Is their a guide somewhere to taking the airbag off? |

First, take the negative battery wire off . Must Look underside of steering wheel airbag (back part) on both sides there are holes put flat thin screw driver in and push gently airbag will pop and do same on otherside , now don't pull airbag off as wire harness is still attach, use flat screw driver to remove wire and airbag should be off . To fit back , connect wire harness and push airbag back in and then connect the battery (make sure you hear airbag click when fit it back) just to make sure it's fixed . That's what I did but other experienced members will confirm Watch this video as well |
