19 inch tire question

I asked this question on another site but did not get much useful information so I thought I would try here...

So as it turns out I may need some new tires sooner than I had planned on so after a little reading I have a question to ask you guys:

Stock size as you will all remember is:
Front 225 45 18 (Diameter 25.97 in)
Rear 255 40 18 (Diameter 26.03 in)

The tire size that seems most popular for the 19 inch wheels, and the ones I have ae:
Front 245 35 19 - this is (Diameter differnce of -0.85% [diameter 25.75 in])
Rear 275 30 19 - this is (Diameter differnce of +2.08% [diameter 25.49 in])

Wouldn't this tire size be better given that it will give more sidewall and be slightly bigger, but still within the allowable range of difference (often quoted as 3%)
Front 245 40 19 (Diameter differnce of +2.78% [diameter 26.71 in])
Rear 275 35 19 (Diameter differnce of +2.04% [diameter 26.57 in])

Go with 245/35/19 & 275/30/19. I made a mistake of putting 245/40/19 & 275/35/19 tires on my Z4M and swapped them out after 1 week. From a visual point, that set-up looks very ghetto on a small car like the Z4. From a handling perspective, the car's handling just felt weird, and lost even more nimbleness.

That is too bad. I was really hoping the larger side wall was an option. Did it rub at all? Also do you have any pictures of the car when you had those tires on?

How about 235's in the front? I'm running 245/35/19 today and at full turn the tires rub. Will 235 work or will they be too thin? I would really like to get rid of the rubbing..

A 245/40R19 would most likely rub a bit or at the very least be too close for comfort imho...so your best bet is to stick with the 245/35R19 you have.

The 275/30R19 difference shown above is typed in wrong it should read -2.08%. So your best bet for the rear (in keeping with the front diff) would be 285/30R19 (-1.15%)...plus it will fill out the wheel well a little bit better.

Not sure about these tire sizes on aftermarket wheels, but this is what I am running on M3 19" Competition wheels.

Thanks for the reply!!

I am running OEM CSL rims so the rear width should be the same as your CSL rears. You are running 285/30R19 on your rears? I was told that 285 was too wide for the rear rims and would probably rub as well - but I guess this isn't the case?
