at what mileage did you address your tension struts?

I was told my bushings need attn @ 51k. maybe age.....

An entire kit with 4 control arms, OEM types by Lemforder, are $296, seems like a good deal.....(why press out the bushings at that price?)

Seems like my rubber protecting the struts and shocks are all torn all around, noticed when I put on my snows...

I agree, I would do new, especially with our BMW having lots of options/brands. Did my first suspension related work at 75k, lower control arms.

At 85k now on original parts. I'm probably gonna do M3 control arms at 100k, but my steering still feels tight, I have no abnormal tire wear, alignment sticks, nothing is torn, and there's no excess wheel play while in the air.

At 140K on original control arms! Went ahead and changed upper control arms, lower control arms and tie rod ends. After alignment, car feels like new!

Mine were leaking at or before ~75k. I replaced them when I started to feel it around 90k.

I've done the tension struts at 182,000 and 314,000. I switched to M3 tension struts at the 182K mark. The hydraulic bushings were leaking and I had brake pulsation. At 314,000 I discovered the left ball joint was bad. Tie rod ends and control arms are original and still in good shape.

If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."

thanks for the comments....my hunch is mine are not "bad," but are showing signs of wear. The reason for the rear shocks is the torn boots and swollen bump stops, that doesn't mean the shocks have failed or are leaking....

Just did mine at 60k. I bought the car at 52k and the ppi showed microcracks on the bushing. They were leaking oil at 59k after a 4k mile road trip. I would just watch for any signs of oil leaks, and then replace. I just replaced with factory arms but thought hard about the trw m3 arms since their the oem provider for the suspension arms. Didn't go with the m3 arms because I was worried about tire wear.

Pretty sure it's been like this since I bought my 1er at 59k, but threshold braking on track at 70k proved they were absolutely shot. Replacing with whiteline or M3 when I get the time
