Problem with manual transmission shifting
Hey everyone I just got this 2013 335i Msport manual. When I picked it up from the dealer the gear shifter was tight, hard to move side to side and to select a gear. They told me don't worry we will fix it when you bring your car in we made and appointment etc. So I get the car back shifter is great now goes side to side no problem. Now I've had a few other manual bmws e60 545 e92 335 and everyone one of them guides you into the next gear. This car does not do that. It's going from 2nd gear to 5th. From 3rd to 6th. I'm going to take it back Monday and see what they say but can anyone tell me how your 335 selects gear. I could drive my other cars with no effort at all just pushing right for 5th. Thanks

Something's wrong.
Mine guides you into the next gear. It's literally almost impossible to go from 3rd to 6th, even for an amateur 6mt driver. Definitely take it back. |

Only notchy shift is from 1-2 for me. I have to get a perfect shift at like 2k in order for it to be clean. Other than that, it's smooth as glass. Everything from 3rd and up is effortless and smooth, every time.

The gearbox on mine is not like this, shifts flow naturally if you are at the appropriate RPM, I've never noticed any difficulty in shifting between any gears really. 1-2 will always take the most effort, but even then my 1-2 shifts on the F30 are waaaaay smoother than they were on my E90. I'm talking stick movement only. |

exactly, i have to pull mine back pretty hard to get past neutral into the gear and it kinda of makes a noise, not a grind but like a click.. Car is at the dealer now they said it maybe the linkage, I am doubtful.

Aha ok. Then in that case, no my gearbox is not at all notchy. In fact it is a great deal smoother than my E90 in that respect.
