Thinking of a change
Hi All
I'm looking to change to an F31 330d M Sport. There aren't that many available less than a year old with very low miles so may have to travel for the right deal. Max budget is 30k give or take. I own my current car outright and would be paying cash to change. I've emailed a few dealers around the UK for their best 'cost to change' on particular cars. Question is, what's a good trade in price for my current steed - June 2013 Alpine white F31 320d M Sport, 31k miles. Although no m sport + pack it is highly spec'd, with Pro nav, adaptive xenons, 442M wheels, reversing camera, extended lighting, folding mirrors, SPG, upgraded Alpine sound system and M perf twin exhaust mod (not that that will add value!). I know everyone says their car is 'mint' but it really is in excellent condition. On the usual sites, there's not many of this age and spec, hence my query. I realise that trade in prices between dealers can differ greatly, and the same dealer might offer a different price against different cars - some will use smoke and mirrors and give a large trade in but not move on their stock car etc. Ultimately, with the way I like to buy my cars the measure of the deal is the cost to change but would be interested to hear your thoughts. In short
A new 330 is 32k at broadspeed.com Used cars like yours are 17-19k at traders on pistonheads so assume 14k part ex? If you want the lowest denominator try wbac So say 18k cost to change?? A pre reg car will prob be a worse deal than new Btw Cheers |

Thanks, but I've checked broadspeed and c2c and by the time I've added my preferred options, its more like 36/37k!

Best so far is 15.5k to change, to a car priced at 31k, so effectively 15.5k for mine. Its good, but think I can get better. I'm only interested in s drives, so there's less to choose from (rules out 335d also) but I'm hoping there are less buyers...

I did exactly the same in July this year. Changed from Alpine White 320d, 14 plate Auto M Sport (although not a fantastic spec) and traded in for 65 plate 330d M Sport Touring. I got 17500 for mine with about 35k miles on clock against the touring at 29500. The 320d is a great car, but you won't regret the change. The 6 pot is superb.

Collecting my 330 on Friday, having secured a great deal with my trade in on a pre reg car with my must haves of M Sport+ and pro nav.
Had 2 cars shortlisted, the other being a March 16 with 3k on the clock and more toys (but not interested in most of them). Cost to change would have been less (but only by £800 in real terms as I negotiated a better trade in and a service pack on the pre reg car). Much deliberation, but ultimately this will be a 4-5 yr keeper for me and I wanted the reassurance the car had not been ragged from new, so went with the pre reg, which only has about 15 miles on it. Roll on Friday, but a 10 hour round trip! |

New car had sticker price of 31.9k, so at 15.5k to change I guess you could say trade in is £16450. Service pack thrown in for free so man maths says just under 17k for my trade in - service pack is £525 on a new car (or less than 60 days old) or £680 if over that age. Figures are always juggled though, so trade in probably less if they took more off the new car to get the deal.
The spec of discounted new car comes in about 36k on C2C so not complaining! Especially good since I bought my 320d F31 at 5 months old for 25.5k, so not lost a huge amount on it in the 3 years and 2 months I've had it. A few garages offered 14k (book trade price) for it off the bat and were not for shifting, so I just kept moving on until there were 2-3 dealerships willing to deal. tbh the car was always 'worth' more than 14k to me personally, so if I never got the deal I wanted I simply would have kept the car for a few more years. |

Would rather get home then have all day Saturday to wax her, as I've asked the dealership not to let their valeters near it! |
