Internet Option

Has anyone heard, but the internet option has been discontinued on iDrive 5 and for those who have it on iDrive 4, it will cease to function after the initial year's subscription. You will NOT be able to renew apparently either...

Surely no loss to anyone, except those who ordered in error?

One or two ordered it in the hope of streaming porn to their cars.........
In that case, would be better used on the G30 with "hands-free" driving

I don't think it's a direct connection though, I checked the IP being used by the browser and it's linked to a German address (some company called M Way Solutions, they deal with mobile technology) so I reckon it's routed via their gateway, this must have a cost associated somewhere and BMW must have noticed most people don't bother using it and it's better for them to just offer the wifi hotspot instead.

Then what the hell is the point of it, if you're stationary you might as well use your smartphone!

Ask BMW! Other than it's illegal to operate a phone whilst "in charge" of a car, possibly fiddling with your sat nav is not a direct offence!

I had it in my 335D. Complete waste of time and money. Only used it about twice as it was so clunky to get the URL in.
