Flushing the trans fluid by pulling the radiator hose?

I'm wondering if we can use this method to flush our transmissions, I know on Toyota and fords you can often pull the trans return line or something and just drain the fluid until it the first sputter. And if it's possible, does the trans line have the same type of release mechanism as the power steering hose?

On other cars that have a transmission fluid cooler, you can pull one of the two lines between the transmission and the cooler to drain the fluid.

edit - I stand corrected, a trans cooler is present on the e90.

On the e90, I don't believe the 6AT has a transmission cooler, so no you can't use this method.
Going by realoem, e90 lci do have trans cooler lines. So as long as you do have tranny cooler lines, you can use this method although it may not be recommended. My suggestion would be to have someone help you do this. Disconnect the return line at the trans and put into a bucket, start engine and run until you see clean fluid and then shut engine off, do not let it pump all the fluid out. You might need to shut it off to top off the fluid a few times. I would keep track of what you put in and how much comes out so you don't pump all the fluid out.
