N55 long cranks.
2011 335xi.
Experiencing really long cranks, but only if the motor is all the way warmed up...if the car hasn't ran for a while and the engine is cold, she fires right up. But if it's warmed up and I turn it off, then turning it back on is a little weird...it seems like the more the engine has warmed up, the longer it needs to crank to fire up, and the cranks feel "weak" if that makes any sense. Does this sound like the HPFP going out? Anyone else experienced this issue? I should add, the car runs great. Smooth idle, haven't noticed a lack of power, etc etc... |

Ugh mines been doing that too lol it's on the list while it's at the shop for
- possible water pump (high engine temp) -rear trunk latch not closing -long cranks (possible hpfp?) Will let you know what I hear I have no codes for the long cranks like I've read they see the engine icon - -and it doesn't it so intermittently - but when it does it it's like wow something is wrong |

It's got to be a fuel pressure issue. Once the engine is warm, the ECU will reduce the amount of fuel supplied by the injectors during the start cycle.
It may be perfectly normal though. I sometimes get longer crank on my 11/N55 when cold, but it usually when I don't hear the low pressure pump cycle when I unlock the car. I haven't had this problem when the car is warm. I used to have a WRX and a long crank is typical for that car. It didn't have a pre-pressure run of the fuel pump at unlock. The fuel pump would run once the key was in the run position. You had to learn to wait a second between run and start, or you would get long crank cycles.

Hpfp most likely. Get it diagnosed. As soon as I would turn off the car the pressure dropped quickly which I knew it needed to be replaced. I told the dealer the issue and they replaced it.

I had the same issue recently and drove me nuts. Turned out to be the starter motor they do this when they are on their way out. New one installed and no more issues with long crank

I have had my 2011 E93 N55 for about three months, and it consistently takes 1.4 seconds to start. It has 41k miles. I took it to an indy shop yesterday, and they said the ECU software is evidently the original software. I am going to take it to them tomorrow to have the software updated; they said the latest is dated 2015. Should I expect that to help my long crank problem? I have never had a code (from my Automatic Pro, at least).
