340 Touring Advice
Just about persuaded Mrs A that we need to change our 2014 330D Lux Touring before the value plummets due to paranoia re particulates etc;actually just fancy a 340!
Currently own 330 outright but keen to go PCP route next time. Advice needed on spec and finance please. Specced up one on Coast2coast with Pro Nav (which one?), Sport plus pack, comfort pack and elec seats/mirrors so know to expect about 9k off list-about right? Any glaring omissions on the spec front? Complete newbie on PCP so who/where should I talk to/deal with? How much should I be paying? (C2C sent me a cash price but no finance deals) Need approx 12k miles/year and keen to use part of value of 330 for deposit. Thanks in advance |

Have you thought about a contract lease? I'm doing that on my next car - investing the capital in my current F11 and then leasing a 335d for 2 years. Going to see how any car prices risen/ fall over Brexit and poss diesel taxes.

Thanks for input guys. How does a contract lease differ from a PCP? Does anyone have some actual figures for something like this over 3 years/12k per year? Just looked at Autocar site and the dealers on there quote about £525 for 3+35 months incl VAT. Guess this is without options or discount so should be beatable with knowledge on this forum!

As a guide I've just ordered a F30 335xd M Sport Plus with Pro Nav and Heated Front Seats. 2K up front and 23 x 430. 10k miles per annum. They pay the road tax - I service the vehicle. It doesn't suit everyone and very much down to individual needs. I change my car every 2-3 years and have always bought outright upfront. I therefore have probably lost a lot of money - so I'm going to lease this one and bank the capital from my current car. Will then gauge if it's a better way for me to go in the future. |

You've gone the right way about getting an overall price. C2C seem to be one of the best with the amount you can get off RRP.
Next step if you want to calculate monthly figures is to get the Guaranteed Future Value and then run the figures on www.pcpcal.co.uk. I didn't know this until recently but if you configure the car on BMW's site and go forward a few steps there's a finance calculator that you can use. Don't think you can adjust the discount however this'll give you the GFV and the current finance rate which you can then put into PCPCal and get a pretty accurate figure as to what it'll cost you a month with the deposit you're happy with putting in. What I've understood about leasing is that it can be cheaper than PCP if you add little or no options, but if you want to add a good few things to any car it usually bumps the price up considerably. Especially if you're only on a 2 year lease. |

So,specced up a car on C2C-nearly £10k discount, good. PCP offer from dealer of 4.9% over 3 years/12k miles at same discounted price. They have given me p/ex price on old car too. Other than getting a better p/ex or APR guess there's not much more wriggle room is there? Is 4.9% standard? Have seen 2.9% mentioned elsewhere, can the dealer vary this? Thanks again to all contributors.
