to paint properly, you need to use a plastic adhesion promoter, then 2k urethane high build primer, block sand, then sealer, then base clear. Good shop should charge at least 500 for this.

The problem with what you have is its probably more labor to strip off old bad paint than just to start with a new part. Looks like they just shot a reduced single stage on there, that is why it is so soft. You would have to remove all the old to get good adhesion, and would probably melt or damage the part in the process.

I got it repainted today and it looks pretty decent

Paint job was around 280, so definitely not on the cheap end of cost

The shop did insist they used primer but most probably none of the things you listed

I'm going to take the risk and see how long it lasts in the current state, possibly adding a compound that protects the paint but I'm somewhat sure it will easily get chipped at some point

they prob. scuffed removed loose paint and used a sealer (like a primer), best you can do with the part already painted. Not perferct but youll prob. scratch or rip it off on a speed bump first .

Does the rear diffuser have a history of getting scratched on speed bumps?

Thought it only applied to the front one

oh sorry thought it was the front, put a good sealer (I like klasse) on in about 6 months and you should be fine, do not wax sooner, paint needs to gas out.
