Because it can be entertaining? It's a bit shit this year but there have been good seasons.

Also, the really bad singers who think they are awesome is really funny.

For me, it's just there is too much utterly fantastic TV out there. We are truly in the golden age of television. Each to their own but I just can't see why I would watch X Factor or it's ilk when I could be watching something like Westworld.

As for the bad singers, from the glimpses I have heard, some of them pretty much have learning difficulties and are paraded out for everyone to have a good laugh at. Just leaves a bad taste in my mouth.
