Logically, it is the Golf GTI CS that should be the "everyday car of the year" since it costs even less and finished second in overall, 13 points behind the 911 R, beating everything from the M2 to the 570S.

The Clubsport S has a rear seat delete.

Oops, forgot that.

To be honest, I think that even the regular GTI CS would finish higher than the M2...

I'm saying it would finish better than the M2 in eCoty.

We are talking about evo Magazine and those guys totally love the Clubsport.

In a world of the internet and an obsession with numbers i think people just don't always get the M2.

Having had mine for a month I get it, its a great fast road car that will not be disgrace its self on a track but feels fun every time you get in it, even if popping to the shops.

I have a mk7 Golf R and so seeing with interest on forums the Golf CS-S owners hanker on every journalists word, now a few are appearing it is actually quite amusing as what they are getting is not quite what they thought

There are a few flaws with the CS-S the main being that whilst Sport Pilot Cup 2s are a great tyre they are shocking in the wet and cold so for about 6 months of the year in the UK it will be on song

It doesn't look as good as the regular CS as does not get black roof, the CS wheel centres and the R rims really needed to be black

What has surprised me as whilst the M2 is not my daily driver it easily could be

I was offered a CS-S in the UK and in reality couldn't be bothered

People need to put less emphasis on Ring times

wigit Yep I forgot to mention that GTI CS comes with Sport Cup tyres but now you did. Thank you. A great trackday tyre, but for every day in our kind of countries not very useable(understatement)

Also Ring/laptimes: M2 might be about 15 seconds faster than 'predecessor' and icon 1M, but the 1M is just more fun per mile imho.

Welcome here btw.

Cheers

VW CS-S does not interested me one bit also.... By the way; you can always fit some CUP 2 tyres on a extra set of wheels to keep the comparison with the CS-S more interesting
