Should I put header wrap on my DP's

I just got a used set of Raceland Downpipes from my friend used for about 1 year and was thinking if I should put some header wrap to reduce some heat in the engine compartment.

thoughts?

I do not think it is worth it, just install the downpipe and enjoy the extra power

I'm considering it if I add DPs to my 335i. While I love the added turbo whistle, the noise in the cabin increases a bit with the addition of DPs. Not exactly exhaust noise, but just an airy flowing sound because the pipes are much thinner than the stock cats. Not a big deal but I suspect it would keep them a little quieter.

Downpipe will get you an added exhaust tone not an airy flowing sound.

Heard it in every car with DPs I've been in and there's a thread on here about it too. That's a bad way for me to describe it but I don't know how else, you can hear it beneath the passenger footwell

We are probably talking about 2 different sounds but to me an airy sound would be similar to what an open intake sounds

header wrap on a downpipe wouldnt do anything, the downpipes arent quite inside the engine bay anymore as far as I know. you can put some on your headers if you want some sort of meanigful benefit in heat scavenging,

right, i have no idea why i said headers. thats only for the naturally aspirated counterparts as far as I know. where would header wrap be useful? around the intake manifold perhaps?

I'm uncertain as to the sound you're referring to as well too but I have them and I absolutely love the sounds they produce, not to even mention the added power.

I know exactly what you are talking about, when I first installed mine I kept checking for leaks because I heard the airy noise you're talking about. I forgot about it after a few days but now stock cars seem so quiet lol.

I found someone else who articulated the same noise better than I could!

Most probably won't care, but when I had my ARs installed, I did hear more exhaust flow noise through the firewall and footwell area (not rubbing or leaks, but airflow noise) probably because they're not as thick and insulated as the stock ones. Some will probably think I'm crazy, but it's the same noise you hear when you put aftermarket headers on a car with thinwall primaries coming from a thick cast iron exhaust manifold. Wasn't that noticeable, but you could tell the difference. I didn't care much, but it's worth noting and my brother knew what I meant.

CP-Es seem to be made of thicker material....at least I know the cast belmouth is, not sure on the pipe.
