Gutted - scuffed me alloy
What a f'kin moron. I could cry. That sound...aaargh.
In asda, paying up for fuel, she handed me card machine, I paid, pulled off, dropped me cards out the wallet, got confused, scuffed the alloy. I am a complete tit. Sorry for the newb question but what is the situation with these diamond cut alloys. Can you get them seen to? Ta. |

Yes you can get them repaired but usually only at specialist places ... how big is the scuff?
My wife scuffed my rear alloy on my last car (S3 18" diamond cut) and since it was only 1-2 inches around the rim, a mobile guy I knew was able to do a pretty good repair without re-cutting the wheel, you'd have had to look pretty close to see it .. If it's bigger than I think you may need to see a specialist and prepare for losing some £££'s! |

Whatever you do don't go to the diamond refinishing people in Dundee (forgot their name, but there can't be more than one). They completely stuffed one of my wheels a few years ago. Fortunately I had insurance and ended up with a new wheel. |

My previous car was a 1 year old AUC and it came with 20" diamond cut alloys. Even with the best care in the world it's so easy to damage such large diameter wheels and I eventually got sick of kerbing them.
After the fourth time I had the wheels shot blasted and powder coated - much easier to do localised repairs; however, the best thing I did was to switch to 18" rims when looking to find sensibly priced winter tyres (got set of new alloys and Dunlop Wintersport 5 tyres for less than the cost of four 20" tyres). I couldn't believe the improvement in ride, handling and steering feedback plus significantly reduced road noise and an extra inch of rubber between rim and kerb. I recently got my new F12 and had no hesitation in ordering it with 18" wheels. |
