Folding top replacement
My '13 328 with folding top is still under warranty. Near the beginning of November I was driving to work and water started creeping into the car from the driver's window. I called the dealer and they picked up my car on 11/10. This past Friday, I got a cal from my SA, he told me they replaced the seals on the folding top twice and it's still leaking.
What do I do if the dealer can't fix my car? Has anyone else here had their seals replaced on their convertible? |

From the title it sounds like you wanted to replace the whole roof. Not sure that's ever viable except on a brand new car - as last I heard is was $23K and needs a specialist jig to install correctly.
If new seals aren't stopping the leak then it sounds like there is an alignment issue somewhere in the car, the door, or the window in the door, or the roof when it is locked down. Hopefully one of the first two as they are much easier to rectify. Has the car ever been in an accident where it could have been tweaked out of alignment? |

I guess my real concern is, Has anyone else's dealer had issues trouble shooting a leak? And, could there be an off chance the warranty could total out the car over a super expensive repair? Such as folding top repair\replacement? BTW, gds52 I LOVE your Z4. I had an '05 convertible a couple years back. By far my favorite car |

Thanks man..z4 is sure a fun car
Back to roof- I've e93 convertible with 116k miles, bought it at 48. There is no leak and one time it was making rattling sounds which dealer fixed. I didn't put anything on the seals at all. My point on finding the leak yourself is that dealer guys may not be doing good job and unnecessarily try tweaking other parts. If you can locate it and point it to them, should help ur case. Good luck. |

***UPDATE***
SA called. Says the windows are pushing up the top and causing the leak. They have replaced all the seals and are going to replace the locking mechanism tomorrow. Says due to a previous adjustment from the last owner the lock is bad. Thoughts? |
