Milk
My lovely wife has put a opened carton of full fat milk in her rear footwell and it has leaked through the mat and onto the floor carpet
I would have gone crazy normally and filed for divorce but my little boy has been in hospital since Tuesday so she has enough stress on her head without her gorgeous husband leaving her Any tips for getting rid of the smell I've hoovered and wiped up as much as I can today but as you know the smell will start in a few days

Make sure you make it clear to her, that she is very lucky that you will let her off.
Also make a physical note of it, so next time she has a moan at you. You have ammunition! |

One of those little steam cleaners may do the trick. I have one for the laminate floor and it cleans anything up. Or one of them you can rent from B&Q or Tesco
It may also be worth asking your friendly neighbourhood detailer. The bloke I use always has brilliant little tricks for getting rid of things exactly like this.

Rent out a Rugdoctor, they're in most Tesco's etc. for £25 a day (plus you buy a bottle of detergent). They come with a hose attachement that should be perfect for cleaning a car carpet.

If there is a lingering smell after removing the bulk of the spillage try an enzyme-based odour remover.
I have the Valet Pro stuff and it is pretty good. I think Autoglym do one as well. Takes a while for the enzymes to break down the bacteria though (give it a day or so).

my son did the same a few weeks ago ! I soaked as much as I could up with kitchen roll then used a Henry vac to suck as much up as I could then auto glym shampoo. after that then covered the whole area with a tin of baking soda I left it with the baking soda on for 5 days then hovered it out and touch wood no smell ! I asked the same question on here and was told to use bioBrisk it kills the enzymes that make milk smell. I ordered some so I have it in stock for next time ! the baking soda seemed to work so I've not needed it
hope you son gets better soon |

Hi chum. First and foremost, I hope your some gets better very soon.
Regarding the milk, Autosmart Bio Brisk is a biological cleaner designed for this very type of thing. Soak the area with the Bio Brisk and the enzymes will break down the milk and prevent any smell. It's brilliant stuff. Ive used it when my wee son was sick in the car. Hope you get sorted. Cooks |

I hope your Son is ok now mate , we kept putting cold cloth strips on our son's forehead and it did bring his temp down in the end.
As far as milk problem goes, it happened to me as well but it was myself who put bottle flat in the bag and when got home it was half empty I tried everything myself then got professions to wash and dry but every time sat in the car and put heating on smell came back which wasn't bearable . So I got it cleaned again kept windows down and sold it probably I didn't know most of cleaning things here like . |

Glad your sons ok kids will put you in an early grave. Had a few scares with fat kid 1 when he was little so know what it's like.
Best thing to do re the milk stink is to trade your car in ASAP for an M3 It's the sensible thing to do tbh

Our wee boy had febrile convulsions too chum. He was in hosp for a night or two, and gave him an increased dose of calpol would you believe, to bring his temp down. He was just under two as well.
Its a horrible thing to watch happening, as it made us both sick with worry. I hope he gets well soon. Thoughts and prayers with you and the family chum. Cooks |
