440i Mid Pipe/Reso Delete/Muffler question

Will just be honest here... not much of a motor head and could use some clarification.

My goal to modding my exhaust is mainly for sound enhancement. I am hoping to acquire a throatier, growly sound with some crackle/pop on the low end.

I have seen posts about people replacing resonators with straight pipes, but one of my questions is.. what is the difference between some random stainless steel pipes that fit that the muffler shop has on hand compared to brand name pipes people bring to replace their reso's with? Aren't straight pipes just straight pipes.. what could make one diff from other?

Also, are mid pipes the pipes from the cat to the muffler? What's advantage to buying after market mid pipes rather than just a reso delete with straight pipes replacing them?

Lastly, if I am just looking for a throatier, growly sound, (not necessarily neighbor shattering loud), do you recommend a simple reso delete, or reso delete plus after market muffler (while keeping stock exhaust kit and just replacing reso's with muffler shop straight pipes), or someone suggested a fabspeed 300cell downpipe plus reso delete?

What is the best combo for me who is trying to get that deep sound without spending over $500-$1000 max?

Any specific set up combo's? etc?

Start with getting an axle back and if you want more sound you can do midpipe or downpipe

So which is more quiet?

* Axle-back muffler with stock pipes
* Stock muffler with straight mid-pipes
