How long you are planning to keep your E9X?
I have 328xi sedan e90 Auto, 2007 and in 1.5 month it will be considered a 10 year old legit vehicle. The ironic part is that it is in excellent shape, AW color is still shinny and looks gorgeous and cabin looks great too. I'm at Arizona now and will be here for next 4 years - dry heat, low humidity is basically conserving my car like a time traveling machine. There is no rust or even a hint of it anywhere. I'll be back home to ON, Canada and my bimmer will be a 14 year old car and will still look almost as new.
I think I'll keep it until it hits 20 year old mark, maybe even my daughter (she is 9 y.o now) can drive it then as her first car lol. I can't believe how sturdy and reliable e90 are actually. I can see myself selling it if I get bored to death, but the amount of money that i can get for 10 year old car won't be anywhere enough to buy something at least close to that driving machine this bimmer is (even the looks of it with 18'' rims and M style rear bumper is at least as good if not better than brand new 2016 Lexuses, let alone hordes of plain Hondas, Toyotas etc.) What are you guys planning to do with your E9X in near future? |

I have a 2013 335i M-Sport coupe with only 21,000km's. The F generation 3 series' life is closer to the end than the beginning so it doesn't make sense for me to make the switch, (I also prefer the classy look of the E92 compared to the F32). I plan on seeing what the G generation 3 series has in store for us but I am in no rush to get rid of my E92!

Keep it until it is not worth keeping. Lots of people rolling in old BMW's that are in great shape. Mine is long since paid for, only 105k mi on it, runs great, and still fun to drive. Fixing it is still cheaper than buying a new one. These are not investments, they are transportation. They only way I'm parting with mine is if it gets totalled.

Over the last 20 years I've wrung 220k out of my e36, and it's still a great runner. I'm moving to an e90 (330) cause (sad!) we need an AT in the family, and I get the sense the e90 is cut from the same cloth as the e36. Who knows how the f30 will fare over the long run? I say hang on with kung fu death grip, OP, unless something just grabs you and makes you let go. Age is only a number. If you still love it and it works, why change?

Till the wheels fall off. And then, bolt them back on and do it again - maybe the E90 will make a great beater tack car in 10 more years

Mine is a September build 2007 model that I factory-ordered. It now has just over 108k miles on it. I figure something around the 10 year mark. At that point I'll decide if I want to get rid of it or keep it as a secondary car.

I have a 2006 325i that has 170k miles on it. I'm currently looking for a newer 335i. Just want something that's faster with fewer miles. Sad thing is the car runs great and looks great but I probably won't be able to trade it or sell it for what it's really worth.

I would like to keep it for a while, it's been such a great and reliable car. At 72k now. But may have to consolidate and move to an auto...I keep finding myself looking at the f06

I've heard that E9X series had a much better revised rust-proofing from factory (use of better steel, better hot galvanizing process from factory etc), after E46 had issues with rust. So in that regard E9X is a lucky series. Not sure if that is true or not

I have a 2012 with only 26k on it. As I am lucky it is not a DD I plan on keeping long term. It's also a garage queen so rarely sees rain and have awd for the winter months. That said considering trading my 6 1/2 year old Subie for a X1 or X3? Depends on the budget.
My motivation for the 328i was the normally aspirated I6 - not going to see those as much in the future.

Is this a new thread? Purchased new, not my daily driver, and plan on keeping indefinitely. When my 98 Maxima had emissions issues, I bought a Lexus to make sure the 335i isn't driven daily in the winter (the irony is the Lexus has a higher wholesale, and was a FLA car also not exposed to the winter for 8 yrs). People complain about the low resale value, so why not keep it? I totally understand wanting a new car, so go and get it, just keep your E92, either as a beater, or a garage queen.

I see no reason to get rid of mine. It works and is fun to drive. Sure I have to fix things here and there. For me it worth it.

Bought mine bone stock with 100k a few years ago. Sitting close to 600hp at 130k and its probably only worth 8 grand. I could sell it and buy a 2005 Toyota Camry? Lol im keeping this one for a longgggg time.
