Carly can't find compatible ecu for coding on a z4, help

My friend just got a 2007 z4. He asked me to come over and do some coding. I brought my tablet with carly pro and usb cable. This tablet setup works great on my 335 e92.

When I connect to his car, the app connects. When i run the coding compatibility check it comes back and says it cannot find any compatible ecu for coding.

When I run a diagnostic scan it only finds 1 ecu and shows a couple of error codes.

Any ideas why this is happening? Bad ecu?

The car runs fine as far as I know.

My setup is a Samsung Galaxy tab s tablet with carly and the one stop electronic obd usb cable.

Just checking...have you changed the 'vehicle model' settings to z4 or is it still set to your e92?

did you select the correct chassis for the z4, you say it's a 2007 so it looks like it should be an e85/86 make sure you are not selecting e89. if that is not the problem then contact the developer at www.mycarly.com. they should be able to help you out.

I believe the e85/86 needs to have pins 7&8 bridged on the kdcan....otherwise you can only run diagnostic on the DME & EGS(engine & trans).

rjahl, are 7&8 bridged on your Z4, not sure when the Z4 moved off the K-line.

I bridge pins 7and 8 for my 2008 535

I remove the bridge for my 2011 Z4

For the 2007 you need to check those pins as mentioned in the previous post

2008 535 doesn't need the pins soldered...E60 started using standard single K line when they came out in 2004.
