Unable to connect to VIN to start coding

I am planning to start some basic coding/config changes and have hit an issue trying to connect via the VIN option in E-Sys.

The connection to VIN option is grayed out and it will not connect or refresh. Fault seems to be the PC is unable to assign an IP address that will allow the two to talk to each other. The Ethernet port is working if connected directly into a broadband router.

I have tried disabling the firewall, AV and ensuring the ENET cable is secure.

Has anyone hit this problem and if so, how did you resolve it pls?

Thank you.....

Well after some playing around, got it to connect via the VIN, but my token code was not working, so back to the drawing board, watch the coding demos on youtube and try again tomorrow.....

Someone else had this same problem, are you sure you followed the install instructions exactly?

A few things to try :

When you connect the cable to the car make sure the ignition is on
Wait (up to a couple of minutes) until the link is established, you need to make sure the Ethernet has limited connectivity
Once this has happened you can do an ipconfig from the command line, check the IP addtress starts 169. as this denotes autoconfiguration has worked
If not check that your IP settings are set to auto, ie you don't have a static address configured
Turn off your wireless adapter.

Try these steps first as it seems a pretty basic IP configuration issue

I see you're based in Beds, I work in Dunstable so if you really cant sort it maybe we could work something else - if nothing else we could try my cable just in case yours is faulty

Thank you, as I said in the follow up post it is now connecting, I just left it for 30 minutes and tried it again.

So connection/cable is fine, just need to get the token to work by reading the instructions again, as its probably me....

If I get stuck, I might just take you up on your offer with a meet up in Dunstable.

Thanks for the kind offer.

Can someone please send me a link to the latest coding instructions for E-Sys 3.28.1 please.

Just realised the one I have is out of date, and want to make sure I am using the latest instructions.

Thank you

The instructions come in the e-sys download, in the folder named e-sys documents, it should be for the version of e-sys that you have.

No, it was for an earlier version v3.18.4, I will reach out to Shawn.

Thanks Teaston.

Quick q as this is the only coding post on p1.

Is there a minimum version of Windows for running the coding software? I have an ancient laptop that I'd hope does the job. Anything from the last 10 years though is OSX based.
