Adaptive suspension on a 435d GC - do I need it?

Following on from my other post

Do I need it, or do I just get ACS springs again?

Is the 435d firmer damping than the 335d pre lci?

I would leave it and get birds but it's 2k with vat fitted.

Thoughts?

I think the answer is try to get yourself an extended test drive in a passive car and see what you think; if you feel it's fine you don't need adaptive but if not perhaps you do? In the event a suitable demo isn't available perhaps the safe option is to spec adaptive; at a cost of just over £500 it won't break the bank and frankly it's peanuts in the context of a £40k car!

Having said that, I specced adaptive on my pre-LCI F31 and knowing what I know now I might not have bothered and just had ACS springs fitted instead - similar cost to the adaptive but I suspect the set-up might be more to my taste as even in Sport my car can still feel a bit floaty at times. However, post LCI - and indeed the 435d - may of course be a different kettle of fish and hence I still think a test drive is the only proper answer!

I was diliberating this for some time with my order and in the end decided to spec it. With X drive running SE setup, I'm hoping adaptive gives a firmer ride in sport mode.

Cars due for delivery wk50 fingers crossed!

It's not one of my favourite options, but at under £10pm on a 4 year PCP it's definitely worth getting!

Does that mean you don't like it?

Or you just prefer other options to it?

I like it but not as much as other options.

I ordered it without having driven an adaptive damped car. Hadn't driven a 4GC either, but that's another story.

What I can say is that comfort is great around town, handles bumps and crappy surfaces well, particularly considering I'm on 19 inch RFTs.

Sport tightens things up nicely - haven't spent too long in this mode yet but I'm very glad I have it for when the car is run in and I'm wanting to have some fun.

Unless your hardcore and going to get coilovers, I'd want it.

That's were I ended up, I am unlikely to spend 2k on birds setup or more on ACS, so I will take adaptive plus ACS if required...(which they will be, it's an xdrive!)

I have a 435 xdrive GC with adaptive suspension, it did feel a bit wallowy in all modes until I had the ACS springs fitted. Sits beautifully now and handling is sharper
