TPMS

Hi guys,

Fitted my winter wheels and the tyre pressure monitor won't reset. Do I need to get BMW to do something as I changed the wheels myself?

Thanks.

It should be ok after you perform the reset. It can take up to half an hour to reset.

I have noticed that my readings have been a bit erratic in this cold weather!

Good luck.

It actually fails and says it is unable to reset.

Daft questions:

1. You do have TPMS sensors on the valves, on your winter set? (Valve stems silver not black)

2. If you do, are they the correct ones? There is an older version and I'm not sure the systems / sensors are compatible.

Assuming you don't have TPMS valves on your winters, you have to be stationary for the reset to perform completely. Unfortunately you have to reset every time you start the car, unless you can code it off. Otherwise a minor inconvenience in the shape of a small yellow light on the dash that flashes for a few minutes.

The new TPMS has to be moving to reset. It gives a % as you drive along

I put my winter wheels on today. I had to press the reset option on the iDrive while parked and then drive for a few miles for it to finish the reset. As stu14t said, it will display a percentage until the reset is complete.
