Homelink/Garage Opener

I did a search and couldn't find anything. Does anyone know if the new M3 comes with this option?

Yes, it's the part of the premium package listed as "Universal Garage Door Opener" and it's on the mirror

Is it any better now? I got the UGD for my '03 X5 and it sucks. No range - 30 feet at the most. Even when you're practically on top of the garage you have to hit the button multiple times to get it to work. Vowed never to waste money on one again - but if it works now I could cheat...

I've never heard of it not working perfectly. I'd try readjusting where the receiving antenna on the opener is located.

Works from about 75-100 feet for me. You have to hold the button for a second, not just hit it.

Agree with prior post. Hitting it will do nothing. I usually have to hold it down... It works fantastic.

ditto...can open mine from down the street 2 maybe 3 houses away as I pull up on both my wife's MB, my BMW X5 and my p-car. It probably is your opener NOT the homelink as they all seem to use similar frequency and power. Check out your openers 1st.

This is on your E92 M3? Mine came with a compass in the mirror (a waste) and the dealer parts guy said they couldn't fit a universal remote on the M3 because the correct mirror was not available and a regular E92 mirror wouldn't work. The remote in my M5 would open the door from 250 feet away!

Hmmm...in the US the compass and UGDO are both in the mirror and both part of the Premium Package. So, the correct mirror should definitely be available.

It works well for me. But the range is a bit limited. 30 - 40 feet at most.

I think it's more a matter of the car being pointed directly at the garage as the beam seems to be very directional...

It took me awhile at first but then i realized i had to do it a different way bc my garage opener has a changing code everytime you push it. with this you have to set up another step. did you do that last step?

I have a Liftmaster and it apparently has the alternating codes as well. I cant get mine to program either.....what last step are you referring to?

Go to page 110 in your manual and look under the "Alternating-Code Hand Held Transmitters"

I did this: I held down the outer two buttons on my rear view mirror until the LED flashes rapidly telling me the memory has been cleared. Then I hold down one of the buttons on my rear view mirror and the button on my garage remote at the same time. As soon as it flashes rapidly I let go off both buttons and then I got to go to my actual garage opener's headunit and locate the "Learn" button. (I actually had to pull down the light cover to get to my button) I push the "Learn" button and
I will see a red light flashing. Then I have 30 seconds to go back and hit the same button on my rear view mirror again 3 times. After everything is set push and hold for atleast 1 second and see if it works. Good luck!

Hey guys, I cleared the memory as instructed by the manual, then pressed and held button 1 and my garage remote at the same time, but the light never starts flashing rapidly. What am I doing wrong?

The distance you hold the remote up to your mirror matters, believe or not. Just keep trying to program it from different distances.

Is there a specific position I should hold my remote? i.e. below, behind, left, right... or does it not matter? What range of distance should I try?

Are you doing it with the ignition on or off? I tried it several times with the ignition off and got nothing. I turned the ignition on and did it again and it worked on the first try.
