Remote Services

It's not clear to me what Remote Services are available to Canadian owners with iPhones. The BMW.ca description here seems to suggest that there is a lot that can be done.

The Canadian iTunes App Store has the BMW Connected Classic App which I assume is the App we are to use for Remote Services. I can't get it to do anything. Keep getting a connection error (just got my car Friday so perhaps some registration hasn't happened yet). What can you do with this App?

The discription of that App refers to the new and improved BMW Connected North America App. But it is not available from the Canadian App Store. Easy enough to download it from the US App Store but I have no idea how to get it to work. Has anyone been able to get the US App to work with Canadian cars?

I've got a 2014 and I have used the "My BMW Remote US" app although not in the last couple weeks (I would frequently use it to turn on the ventilation fans about 20 minutes before I get to my car from the GO train). The functionality I have used is:
- Turning on ventilation remotely
- Flashing lights remotely
- Horn
- Lock remotely
- Send locations (both using the app and also from Google Maps directly from PCs, etc)

The app won't let you unlock remotely, it will tell you to call BMW Assist and provide a password to unlock it.

I have had a couple instances where the app would not send remote functionality through, in those cases I've just ended up waiting a few days and it would randomly start working again. It hasn't been super reliable for me but it has been useful on occasion.

I seem to remember that as part of the delivery process I was told that I had to activate some of the remote services by talking to someone through BMW Assist? I can't really remember anymore, you could just try using one of the BMW Assist options from the car or ask your SA or delivery specialist, they should be able to tell you what steps might be required.
