Coilovers m240i

What coilovers could I get for my m240i? Looking at the kw variant 1 but how will that work with the adaptive suspension? Done some searching but still don't understand lol

Coilovers replace the entire assembly, therefore you'd loose the adaptive suspension that comes with the car. However, there are adaptive coilovers that work with the factory driving experience button. I believe the KW DDC would work as direct plug and play, but you'd have to verify. The KW Variant 1 you mentioned would just be a one set fit.

if you use plain jane coilovers that aren't adjustable, then their stiffness is dependent on the combo of the assembly (strut and spring). The switch would no longer adjust the chassis, it'd only adjust the driveline so throttle and shifts, etc. If you get coilovers that work with the driving experience button (sport, sport+, comfort, eco pro) then you can still have the button also adjust the chassis. The button doesn't stop working if you don't have adjustable struts, it just can't adjust the chassis anymore.

I believe KW makes a pnp coilover for adaptive suspension - works on m235i, probably same for m240i. Not 100% here, You might give them a call.

You also might want to check out the suspension forum.

so what I've come down too. i can get the kw variant 1 with the edc delete kit and i would still be able to adjust from comfort to sport+? just not be able to adjust the damping?

I've also read that the button gets stuck on comfort if i don't get the plug and play option.
i still want to be able to switch the throttle response and so on.

sorry, just want to do this right lol

To my knowledge, replacing the struts won't lock the car in comfort mode. I could be wrong as I have not changed mine though. I do know though that when you switch modes, on the iDrive system it lets you configure the driving mode and in there it will let you do throttle/chassis. If you don't have edc, it can't adjust the chassis.
