Clicking sound from the Engine

Hi All,

Today, I noticed this strange clicking noise coming from the engine bay. I was able to record it. As you can see, the noise comes and goes (30 secs-38 secs). It only happens during idle and under throttle, the noise goes away. Anyone have an idea of what this could be? No CEL or warning lights what so ever. Car runs normal.

Boost solenoids. Next time it happens tap on each on with something like a screwdriver and see if it stops. This will tell you which one is bad.

My car produces the same sound all the time! So it's the boost solenoids after all? I thought it was the lifters - but that's just me.

Good to know, I will have to check out my boost solenoids. Something has started to get more noisey under my hood too.

The valvetrain and injectors are noisy on these cars, which is normal. The engine cover and windshield cowl play a huge role in reducing this noise. This normal noise is audible in the video from 33-38 seconds.

However, the remainder of the video has a loud metallic tapping sound. This is usually evident of a bad boost solenoid. I'm not sure the exact cause, maybe it's getting stuck?

Here is my video... loud tapping starts at 30 sec:

It's very deceiving, the sounds seems to be coming from the alternator and intake runners. However, with some additional searching and the video ferocity02 posted, I'm incline to say it's probably the boost solenoid.

I will verify tonight.

This ticking noise issue was raised before. Fuel pressure release valve maybe?
