Fabspeed SportCat Review

This all started when i was looking to get a little more sound out of my M2. Originally i was looking to exhausts and drooled over the Akra and the Remus but when i learned about Fabspeed's SportCat all the decision making stopped. Not only would i gain a bit more sound but i'd get a fairly substantial bump in power and response. This secured my decision and ordered my SportCat from Fabspeed. All i can say is if you're in the market for more sound or power or both than this mod should be on the top of your list. I'm extremely happy with Fabspeed's product. My initial driving impression was that the throttle felt a bit lighter and the car rev'd more freely. There is definitely a noticeable amount of power as well. And the sound...what can i say, it's intoxicating. Thanks Fabspeed! Enjoy!

Interested to hear side by side Fabspeed cat + stock exhaust VS. Stock cat + MPE system.

VRSF will be louder and more aggressive since it is catless

Thanks for sharing your review VegasM2! Great video as well; taking it through the different modes really shows a lot! Let me know when you're ready for that Muffler Bypass Exhaust next .

So to get the last sound, you push the DSC button briefly? Does that turn DSC off? Can you do it in any mode?

From Comfort to Sport+ Mode is where you are going to hear a majority of a difference. From my experience, turning DSC all the way off has not made any difference than just having it in Sport+.

I think he means how to get that "hidden" "special popping" mode which you get when you press quickly the DSC button and it goes to a "Traction" mode which has a lot more popping even in full stock mode.

If you're asking about MDM, yes. If you have a DCT you will also need to put it into manual shift mode to hear it. To be honest, I really didn't hear a major difference like others have described and use Sport the majority of the time. I like Sport+ best from a shifting perspective but doesn't work well w/my traffic to and from work.

So you can still get those popping sounds with traction off even in comfort or sport mode? If so then I would assume the popping sounds would be more noticeable at the sportier modes. Or traction off is only allowed in sport +?

The way I understand it is that regardless which mode you are in, when you press that DSC button once, it will get into a new mode called Traction which has that excessive popping characteristic. So its not that its in Comfort or Sport or Sport+ in addition to Traction. Traction is an entire different mode since you can feel the throttle response held up and not as responsive compared to Sport +.

There was a thread out there called Traction Hidden Mode or something like that which described it in detail.

In summary the Traction mode enhances that popping sound so with an exhaust installed that would have more popping but IMO the best mode is Sport+ and sounds much more solid than any other.
