Replaced the Thermostat Twice and Still Getting P0128 Code, PLEASE HELP!!
Here's the back story. 2006 e90 325i. I've replaced the following parts:
Radiator Expansion Tank Coolant Temperature Sensor Thermostat...twice. First time with a Wahler brand. The second was a Mahle. I've done the purging procedure after each install. Delete the code and then after a few months, it comes back. I'm definitely getting some unique sounds from the engine bay. Any ideas why?? Last edited by Captainjz16; 10-25-2016 at 09:09 AM.. I also have a recurring P0128 code in my car. It is worse when it is cold outside; my understanding is that the SES code is triggered when the car does not warm up fast enough. Did you do the water pump while you were doing the t-stats? One coolant temperature sensor or both?

There are two coolant temperature sensors on the car, one is close to the oil filter housing, the other one is right up the radiator on the passenger side, at the junction where a coolant hose goes into the radiator. Did you replace both?
