Corner Balancing with KW V3 for 335xi coupe

Hello:

I have KW V3's and my technician is putting them on and lowering the vehicle. Should I specifically take the vehicle to have it corner balanced with my weight in the front seat? My BMW tech said it will not make a real difference on streets and they will do the wheel alignment after installing. Any thoughts about needing corner balancing? Thanks.

One shop told me to corner balance, another (the one I am using) said just get a good alignment. We will see. Just a street setup for now. Mine are going on this Weds, right after I dyno.

Any experts out there?

If you have the budget, corner balancing is ideal. However, for an everyday street setup, it's not entirely necessary.

A lot of good shops will just do the corner balancing for you while they are doing the install (just as part of the install process).

That must be a really nice shop then if they do not charge anything extra for the install or corner balance after. most shops will charge for the install, corner balance, and allignment. if you only daily drive the car then get an alignment as long as the ride height and load is properly set. Corner balancing does help but it's usually expensive and only recommended if you track the car and want the absolute best handling.

Ya, so just alignment for now. If I commit to a track date this summer, I will invest in the corner balance.

Tell them to set the RELATIVE ride heights similar to stock. The stock suspension has almost perfect corner balancing.

Keep it to the same proportion when you drop the car and then you don't need to corner balance. If want to play around with ride height and keep it balance then you need to bolt on weight.

but if you do keep the stock proportions your rear will be slammed if you want the front end wheel gap eliminated.. it'll look funny.

Yup...that is what it works out to be. Changing the drop unequally from front to rear does a lot more than just you corner balance so you will likely pay more just to have a car that doesn't handle as good as stock. This isn’t about stiffer suspension.
