Rattle in my 335i waste gate Rattle ok?
Sorry for all the questions guys but I just got the car and trying to fix all the bugs
I took a video of the Rattle in my car when I start it up. I have been researching and I'm not jumping to conclusions because I know it can be anything but I think it's the waste gate on the turbo. Question ims it OK to drive with it? I have read a few places and some people said the dealer told them it's normal and it's ok. It's jot super loud like other I have been looking at on YouTube. What's up with that warranty for the turbos? Am I still covered it's a 2007 with 78k miles? See video Last edited by inf4m0us1; 10-19-2016 at 02:40 PM.. |

I've got the same rattle but unfortunately the warranty is good for 8 years/82k miles from in service date so you would be outside of that. You can still drive with it though maybe see if the dealer will do a goodwill repair. My warranty ends June 2017 so I'll have them look at it beforehand.

Glad it's the rear, if it's the front it's not hard to shim the the waste gate bracket with washers, took me about 2hrs. All you need to remove is the vac tanks and the radiator fan. You will need extension, u joint extension, magnet tool tool helps alot.

Yup that is not the waste gate.
The flap closes after a few minutes which is why the sound seems to go away after the car warms up. Either do the golf tee mod or don't worry about it... it is not a problem. |
