iPod not recognised

Only took delivery of my new M2 last week. Really pleased, however . . .

One feature that is annoying is that when I plug my iPod into the armrest USB, it is not recognised correctly by the car. Looking around on forums suggests the use of a Y-cable that plugs into USB and AUX. Spoke to sales staff at dealership yesterday and they said that there are several genuine versions of Y-cable about, as well as the cheap copies that should be avoided, but my car is too new for one to work. Does anyone know different?

M2 is 2017 MY, with HK. I didn't specify either of the Enhanced Bluetooth options as I only envisaged wanting to connect a single Bluetooth device (iPhone) and a single USB device (iPod, for big music library). Apple Car Play Preparation was not there as an option to tick when I selected final specification.

Thanks for any help.

I have similar issues with my iPod Classic. If I plug it it the songs do not appear. Nothing. In my wifes F11 it directly works without any issues, in my former Z4 also no issues, so I can exclude that the device is the problem. I assume it is a power problem of the USB port in the armrest...

Anybody operating successfully the iPod classic in the M2?!

I use a 5 year old iPod classic and use a normal iPod aux cable. The only problem I've had is the iPod freezing- solved with a hard reset on the iPod.

AFAIK the Y-cables aren't needed on F-generation cars.

I picked up my M2 last week and my iPod Classic worked initially for a couple days. Now it just says "Loading..." and never finishes. It still recognizes the iPod and the iPod shows the BMW logo. I tried resetting it to factory and also enabled disk use, no luck.
