Changing wheels - tyre pressure monitor?
Hi guys.
Just about to fit a set of larger rims and cup 2's. Obviously easier to get the tyres fitted to the new rims and then just do a swap over, but I want to keep the TPMS active. Which could mean removing the existing, stripping and then fitting the senders to the Vorsteiner rims. PITA..... What have you guys done? Can you buy a set of TPMS senders economically and fit them to the new rims, leaving the original wheel sets in one piece? |

First up not all vehicles came with physical TPMS sensors.. to see if you have the TPMS, check the valve stem of the OEM wheels. If they are black and rubber then no TPMS (pressure is instead monitored by the ABS). If the valve stems are silver and hard plastic then you have the TPMS sensors.
I have the TPMS sensors available for $110 ea if you wanted a new set. Alternatively code out the TPMS if you're not fussed about it. |
