Ever get a growling engine vibration after a sudden hard stop?

During Chicago rush hour forced to stop suddenly at which time the engine begins to growl and emit what sounds like vibration but not felt in car. Felt like maybe the sudden stop caused the engine to momentarily loose proper RPM's. Anyway once I got moving again the engine sounded as normal. No codes thrown. Had me worried as I was looking for a spot to pull over. Anyone with a diagnosis please chime in or could be normal engine behavior?

You probably heard the ABS engaging. It is quite crude vibration sound when you first hear it. You can easily replicate it on wet pavement in a lonely area by slamming on the brakes, watching the yellow ABS light blink, and see if it is the same noise.
