330d Buying Advice, New To BMW

Hi all,

So I have been after an e90/e92 330d for over a year and I'm finally thinking of biting the bullet. I'm after manual, iDrive, leather. Have found an 09 model that looks really good on autotrader and I'm thinking of going to view it.

Any advice on things to look out for? It's done 70k miles and seems in good condition. I've read a lot and the main thing seems to be DPF blocking, is there away to check if this is an issue when viewing as this will be the first I've gone to view. Also turbos can go, as on any car. Anyway to check this or just see if it whistles at all?

Any other issues or things I should be looking at. I'm planning on paying half and financing half over 3 years. I don't want to be paying finance whilst also paying big repair bills. I know a few lads in garages so I could hopefully get work done a little cheaper, but I don't want to be buying into any big problems.

Any advice would help, and any people owning the same car, how is it to live with?

Thanks in advance!!

Being an 09 plate, I presume it has the newer N57 engine. I would double check if it has as it's much improved over the older M57.

Thanks for replying, according to autotrader it's the 245bhp version which is the newer. and it has the smaller reverse lights which were also introduced on the newer engine if I'm right?
I am very tempted I just don't want to wind up buying into trouble and expenses!

the lights will be different as its an LCI model. the engine should be newer also. may be worth reposting in the UK section as well as a number of people have them.
