A huge let down

The day has finally come where I get to drop my car into BMW and have the pleasure of driving something different!

I end up with a 218i Gran Tourer.

I found that unless you actually ask for something bigger at booking stage ten you get stiffed with whatever crap they have lying around on that day

Best I had was a 4er GC. Worst, a baked bean shade of mini one

My dealer has just had two 4GC's allocated as loan cars apparently! Will hopefully be getting one in a couple of weeks when mine goes in to have the interior lights looked at again!

When I got the dealer to affix my rear spoiler properly, I was given a Mini Cooper. Not a bad little car but certainly not a real Mini as its not exactly mini. Guess it was better than the utter cack I got prior to that when I had some work done to my previous E92. The local BMW dealer uses the local Volvo dealer as its body shop and they gave me a fucking Peugeot Random kitchen appliance. Brand new but had less character than a member of the Church of Scientology and was as thrilling as fisting your nan. Managed to do a cracking J turn on the runway though

Actually the 4GC is probably the only car that would have been worse for me than the 218i given it was a 4GC I was dropping off there!

Unless it was the 440i of course, I'd be keen to give that a go.

They're probably 416d's, even though the factory doesn't make them, they just put 16d engines in them to piss off service customers!

Dropped the 335d off at Stratstone Chesterfield yesterday to have some body work done. The long haired general managed to use the back of a Nissan Micra to stop at some lights
They gave me a 420i Msport which in the face of it looked pretty nice. Then I drove away a realised how utterly crap the engine was and how poor the built quality felt compared to mine. Even closing the boot felt like closing a poorly made bean can.
Can't wait to get mine back on Monday

Sorry for you mate. I think it is the ugliest car BMW has ever produced. I just don't get it.

Audi doesn't make such hideous thing, but Merc does too.

Mine's back in 10 days for them to have another go at the lights. Don't fancy my chances of a 4GC though, suspect it'll be another 2GT - I get those and Mrs X gets F10s...

Whilst I could understand the engine feeling underpowered vs the 35d, I wasn't aware that the build quality of a 4 series was any way inferior to that of a 3?

It surprised me too. The boot lid was the biggest issue with it feeling very tinny. I have the powered tailgate on mine so maybe that makes the difference, but it was something I noticed straight away.
The interior was more down to materials, and seemed like lots more plastic. Also the steering wheel although leather still felt thinner and hard with poor quality buttons.
