Stock stereo system on Pure v HK system
I've got a M2 Pure being built at the moment and it wasn't possible to spec the higher standard Harmon Kardon stereo system. My existing M135i has the HK system which I'm pretty impressed with.
Is there much difference between the two? If there is, can I upgrade the Pure's stock system to get it near to the HK system? If so how? I expect the stock system doesn't have the sub-woofers under the seat which I would hope could be retro-fitted. Any help appreciated. |

What's an M2 Pure?
The harman/kardon stereo in all F2x vehicles up until 2017 sounds absolutely terrible for the price. For 2017 they improved it vastly and haven't been advertising any changes to it, but it was immediately apparent to me that it was far superior in regards to the sound quality. I've not heard the base model radio in a 2 series so I can't say just how much better it is, but the h/k system in my 2017 M2 is a big jump over the h/k that was in my 2014 M235i. |

I haven't heard the stereo in the Pure but i must admit I was quite disappointed at first with the HK in the M2. I had it in my 135i and i thought it was fantastic.
Saying that I'm not sure whether it's just me getting used to it but it definitely seems to have improved a bit over the time I've had the car. Imo though i think you'd probably be better off going full aftermarket than trying to install the HK. |

Looks like it's a stripper build.
"Undercutting the ‘regular’ $98,900 BMW M2 by $9000, the M2 Pure comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission, and forgoes its dearer twin’s factory inclusions of a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, adaptive headlights with high-beam assist, heated electric seats with electric lumbar support, keyless comfort access system, and 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system." http://www.caradvice.com.au/461627/2...2-pure-review/ |

The HK inside my 1M was defintely better than the HK inside my M2.
Warm keyboard sounds are a bit 'subdued' in the background with the M2 HK. The 1M HK features - apart from the basic treble/bass/balance/fader - additional equalizer settings in the iDrive, allowing you to give warm key board sounds more prominence. The M2 HK does not feature the additional equalizer settings. Disappointing. The M2 MPE orchestra, on the other hand, rocks.

No Active Sound Design (ASD) inside the 1M.
