Center lift point on rear?

Looking to swap tires left to right for my upcoming track event. Is there a safe spot to left the entire rear. I don't want to use the diff as that places stress on the diff bolts and is vulnerable to shearing. My e36 has a designated spot near the diff but I didn't see one on my M2.

On E36M3, I was told diff was jack point. What did you use?

Do you plan to remount tires or just swap rims and tires? I believe the tires are directional.

Swap rims and tires. Tires are not unidirectional but they do have an outside and inside designation for mounting on the wheel.

I looked closer and there are very clear center jack lift points. Thought I'd share some pics. I also tossed one in of the rear lift point on my E36 M3 since there was a question on that by masou earlier in this thread.

Thanks! I was looking at jacks yesterday and a vette forum mentioned the rear subframe too. Completely forgot about that.

Note that the front lift point is waaay back from the front bumper and I couldn't reach it with my jack. Had to lift the car from both sides.

Pyrat thanks for sharing this, this will come in handy when I start working on the car soon!

Need to measure the M2 first but I am leaning toward the Compac.

Yowza! Nice but $600! I'll just use two jacks instead of spending that.

I'm going to measure and see how much additional length I needed beyond the current jack I have. This one has almost 7" of additional reach beyond my existing jack.

I bought this one to use with my M2, works great. It's really low profile and just reaches the center jack point.

Thanks for the info here.

How about placement of jack stands back and front.

This one work for the back?

What about front?

No no, it should be the other way around. There should be jack points by the rocker panels, where the jacks look to be in your pic, where you place the jack stands. That black crossmember (where the jack stand is) can be used to jack up the car.

Reviving this old thread -- I see the spot the jacks (black crossmember), but where do I put the jack stands? Everything near the rocker panel looks plastic.

Put jack in front and raise the car. Put a jack stand on the rear jack point. Do the same on the other side.

If you are talking about this one, yes.

After Pyrat 2 put this up and people cleared on how to lift the back I have used those points to lift with jack and then just place jack stands on the lift points in the corners.
