What oil do you use?

For you guys running higher hp what oil do you run? I know there are threads on this topic already but most are years old so I'd like to see what's been lasting for most people! I still run 0w40 and I'd like to run 5w40 or 10w40

Tracked a E90 FBO N54 car. Oil temps hovered around 260 for at least 20 minutes. UOA showed perfect wear pattern after 3,000 miles on Mobil 1 0w-40.

Given the M1 doesn't rate BMW LL-01 anymore, I would switch to Castrol 0w-40 because it's the same price and availability as M1 was.

Oil is definitely not all the same. The base stock may be similar, but the additives will vary. It depends on what you want to spend, but LiquiMoly and Motul are two of the better brands that you probably won't find in stores.

What you think about this? Looks pretty cheap for a 5 liter though!

I'm thinking of switching from LiquiMoly to Rotella T6 due to convenience. Did you guys notice any changes with Rotella vs what you ran before? When I switched from Castrol Edge to LiquiMoly, my oil consumption dropped.

Yes, my oil consumption was less and my lifters quite down a lot. I used Mbile 1 and will never use that oil again.

Liqui-Moly! Hear good things about Redline,& I use Them for my transmission fluid so you can't go wrong with them either.

So what's special about Rotella T6? How's it better than Mobil1, Pennzoil Platinum, Castrol Edge, etc?

Nothing special. Its a diesel oil, not ll01, thicker when cold, but cheap and easily available.

Motul 8100 xcess 5w40. Anecdotal observations indicate it may have lowered the time it takes for my oil to fully warm up, and keeps it at a slightly cooler temp.
