Can someone help me make sense of Dinan's stage 2 revisions?

A few years ago, I had a Dinan stage 2 335i and loved the power. A buddy of mine also had a Dinan stage 2 335i and we raced several times on the freeway and always ended up pretty equal. Driving mine vs his, mine gave more of the 'whoosh' sensation of a turbo car whereas his felt smoother. Not a huge difference but we both noticed it. Always thought it was coincidental but I just read the thread on the 'funkdoc special' flash by Dinan for stage 2 cars with a FMIC. I recently bought the car back (loved it that much lol) and had to put a new DME in it so my Dinan tune is gone. If I get it reflashed, will it be yet another revision with a more linear powerband? Is there a way I can request the old tune? A Dinan stage 2 335 isn't going to beat any c63s no matter how I slice it so I'd rather have the feel it used to have, even if it's not any faster. Many complained about the new flash (which I'm not even sure my friend's had) feeling slower, even though, in fact, it was just smoother. Anybody who's knowledgeable about this please let me know! Thanks!

With all of the people out there who offer custom tuning, there is literally no reason to pay for a Dinan tune. Just pick a tuner and explain your goals.

The only reason I'm sticking with the Dinan tune is it's already been paid for. Reflashes are free for life.

Buy a jb4. My brothers car came with a Dinan tune. When he installed the jb4 he completely forgot he even had that weak ass tune.

I think I got the answer I was looking for. It seems Dinan made a mistake a while back and while updating the flash, auto cars ended up reverting back to stock. They insisted the power was just smoother and customers were very unhappy. They ended up realizing they made a mistake and fixed it. The new map IS smoother but nothing too dramatic (likely what my friend had).

I've been very happy with their stage 2 flash relative to other tunes without bolt ons. I may get an FMIC and downpipes and have Wedge make me a tune but I just spent about 4k in maintenance on the car so the free option makes the most sense for now.
