Hey guys- quick update on my most recent 335xi. August 30, 2015 my old 335xi hit a deer, and eventually was totaled out.

Old car thread: edit** not sure why it's not letting me post the e90 link- just search 607awhp I guess and it should come up...
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...amp;amp;page=6

After debating switching platforms, I ended up picking up another bone stock auto 2010 335xi mid April. After some debate, between selling the car and then actually enjoying not having any of the "upgraded" gremlins, I couldn't resist and I slowly started to piece together a few FBO parts, which slowly turned into me jumping 100% back in. Well, it's now mid-September, and I will begin tearing down the xi, and making another crack at a 10.xxx second pass.

I'll be updating this thread with some baseline Dyno pulls of my car stock, tear down pics, Dyno pulls as I add mods, and of course time slips and YouTube links to the runs at the track. I like to work fast, so results for everything should start trickling in over the next day or so, assuming my schedule doesn't get completely thrown off

I also wanted to take a second to thank the following guys for helping me piece round 2 of my project together. From helping me find the car, Steve/Fuel-it has been a great friend. I'd also like to thank Jesse/Chuck @pure for the set of stage 2 Turbos, the turn around time and quality is/was much appreciated. I'd also like to thank Trueform technology for hooking me up with a beautiful set of inlets.

@steveAZ
@pureturbos

Mod list (for now)
Pure Stage 2 Turbos
TFT inlet system
ADE FMIC (650ish)
Fueling by Fuel-It
HPF G2 exhaust
KW V3s

I can't see this taking me more than a day or so, hoping to have everything off before the weekend.... I am still trying to possibly be ready for NFZ Midwest, but would only be on 93.

As always, great to see more XI's being modded to this level. Auto or manual?

It's an Auto. My prior XI was also an AT. This is my 2nd go around with a high power xi, the issues I had with my prior setup was kind of a 1 man journey, at the time there weren't many high power xi's... thankfully now there are more awd guys pushing things a bit

That being said, i now have a pretty good feel for what the driveline can and can't take, I'm overall very excited to get the car up and moving.

Welcome back DD. Even if you don't do tens it'll fly. You'll surely like the Pure, and will probably end up going with PI in the spring.

Love the dedication to the cause, hopefully the drive terrain holds up this time, Did you consider going ST this time to keep the low end torque manageable?

I guess I'm a glutton for punishment lol

I did consider going single for a bit, and it was a tough choice- I was strongly considering a doc race kit with a custom made PTE.

In the end, I stuck with twins, after all the mistakes I made with my last car, i really wanted to put my prior findings to the test with this car more or less to kill all the "what if" questions that were running through my mind non stop.

Maybe you can impart some of your wisdom. Literally just dot done driving the car with the gcs installed on a weak 93 only tune. Any suggestions on what max the AWD and auto can handle?

I want to shoot for 600 600 on my high boost tune and anywhere from 450 to 550 on low and mid tunes.

Sure- the trans TBH wasn't the issue. At 600/620 my trans didn't skip a beat, for my specific case, it was the front diff, front drive shaft and front axels that didn't like the power @ the drag strip.

I brought the car to the track at the power level shown below, on street tires. The car didn't make it much past the 60ft. The front diff exploded, the front shaft was twisted, and the passenger front axel was broke.

That being said, the car had 0 issues on the street, daily driving on that map prior to going to the track.

I tried going back to the track on a dialed down version, and subsequently broke the front diff again on street tires.

Imo the car doesn't need a crazy amount of torque to cut a solid 60ft. Before inlets etc- my. Car was on rbs, e60, FBO and would run 11.3-4 like clock work and cut 1.5-1.7 60 fts (460awhp/500-ish torque). I really think the key is keeping torque sub 550, and the rest should take care of itself w. the expanded powerband provided by inlets/upgraded turbos etc.

What were your trap speeds? I'm hoping if I can cut 1.9 60s that 10s could be possible without the crushing impact of launching the car trying to get a 1.6.

With rbs, FBO stock inlets, and e60 I was around 122-124mph (11.3-5ET, 1.5-1.7x 60ft).

I went to the the track on 3 separate occasions dialed up with inlets, pi 100% e85 etc- and broke the first 2 times, first pass each time lol :

3rd attempt I went, track prep was horrible, and the car was dialed down considerably, I couldn't even tell you the hp- but I think i was doing 11.7 @ 127-8

Surprised your top end wasn't better, that's a pretty damn good 1/8th. Don't get me wrong 124mph is solid but 550 to 600whp should be closer to high 120s.

Completely swamped with work and football, but might find a Sunday in October to drive you back from Wisconsin. I still have those fancy sweats, so i could give 12.5 a shot..
