What fixed your Limp mode under WOT issue?

This is an attempt to create a "database" of fixes for Limp mode issue occurring under Wide Open Throttle. The data will be a goldmine for folks chasing this issue needing to just reference the list of possible fixes, kinda of a check list to run down through.

Please just list what finally fixed the limp mode. No long stories and narrations etc. Just a summary.

Thanks!

4th gear getting on the highway I hit limp mode. 30EF. Fixed with new vacuum lines and boost solenoids.

Maybe an Oil cooler, or upgraded Oil cooler setup. Walnut Blasts. Plugs, coils, injectors, any leaks of any kind... Best of luck !

Seemingly misfiring causing limp mode. No codes, just limp mode. Running JB4. Replaced coils and plugs, haven't had it since.

Old plugs with a tune will send you into limp mode under WOT or significant load.
Change plugs as the first debug.

As soon as I got a tune every time I went wide open throttle the car would go into limp mode. A walnut blasting /cleaning of the intake valves fixed everything.

New Turbos! Seriously, I replaced vacuum lines, a cracked valve cover, tightened up charge pipe, etc. and finally determined that my front turbo wastegate was stuck open. The actuator wasnt moving when testing with vacuum. Dealer replaced both turbos under the BMW field notice/extended turbo warranty. No more 30FF for me.

Let's see...one time it was a separated fmic pipe, another time it was a not fully seated cp connection at the tb, a few times it's been plugs or coil packs, twice its been vanos Solenoids, two times it was hpfp related, once it was lp sensor, yet another time it was vacuum lines, oh and then another time my dme got fried...this is all from 38k to 130k miles.

the only time I had limp mode at WOT was about a year ago. it gave me codes stating injector shutoff. I ran fuel injector cleaner twice with two fillups of gas and then I bought a hpfp cuz I thought I needed it, but I was lazy and months passed and before I installed the hpfp I noticed I would go WOT and no more limp mode so I returned the hpfp. recently I turned up the boost to 19psi and no issues. I wonder if the fuel injector cleaner actually did anything or not?? but worth a try I guess.

I removed my BEF and forgot to set JB4 back to 4/3 from 4/2. Couldn't figure it out for 3 days. Lol.

Same for me!
I had intermittent 30FF and when modifying my turbos to Stage 2 workshop checked actuators and both of them were leaking, one a bit and the other much more. Replacing them with new units fixed all 30FF issues (and new turbo made me smile a lot!)

Finally got it fixed by replacing the DME. After the fact I learned that reflashing the DME at the dealer would probably have fixed it too. The car runs fantastic now - not just the WOT is completely gone but the overall performance of the car has improved aplenty.

The error code was always 5E19 - DSC CAN DME/DDE Torque Reduction Not Possible;engine torque not adjustable.

Boost solenoids did it for me. I don't recall what the specific code at this point but it was related to overboost.

Mine would only go into limp.mode when in sport mode. Regular D was perfectly fine. Cleaned out my exhaust vanos since I was getting that code. So far so good

Boost solenoids

Suffered from 4 years of track limp modes, solved with new boost solenoids. Walnut cleaning did not hurt.

Limp is back with ABS pump failure - occurs under heavy turn one breaking followed by WOT toward track out. Hope ABS rebuild solves problem.
