F30 Factory Folding Mirrors & Cruise Control Quick Question
i have no problems with the mirrors but was wondering if anyone knows how to get the mirrors to fold automatically when i lock the car without keep pressing the lock button continuously, anyone?
My wife's ford fiesta works that as you lock the car with a single press both mirrors just fold in. Last edited by vadimo; 09-13-2016 at 12:10 PM.. |

new here, had F30 since Saturday, whats this 'code' - whats involved? I got to be careful as my car has got warranty and do not want to void.
I also glanced somewhere you can code adaptive cruise control (where it brakes in front of other cars)? |

I haven't coded before so can't help with that one but you will need a special cable and software. There are plenty threads on it and some information on how to code. Quite detailed of you have a search. I can't search at the moment as I'm on the app.
Regarding the adaptive, I'm sure you'll need to have the radar as a starting point. Do you have that little black box on the front lower grill? |

Folding mirrors on lock - yes, you can code that. There is a whole section on these forums on how to code and what you can change - do a quick search and you should find it

Umm, I'm no techy type but the range of the parking sensors may not have the range to prevent you smashing in to a car in front regardless of what wizardy they are plugged in to for ACC. As has been mentioned, ACC utilises its own radar sensor. No1 in the diagram. |

Haha! I'm making the same point you make in that by the time the parking sensors notice a car in front, it's probably too late to do anything. It's amusing actually that someone could think they are all that's needed

The latter requires a separate radar sensor. Check out my signature pic. ACC radar is the little square in the lower grille. New Golfs seem to have them as standard, as each one I seem to see has one.

I think it is standard on all F3X cars. Even my wife Mini has this.

544 is normal cruise control. If you wind the speed down with cruise engaged (via steering wheel control), there comes a point where the speed difference from your current speed to the one you have selected applies the brakes. Active Cruise utilises a radar control unit in the nose that keeps your car a predetermined distance from the one ahead. If it slows down, you do too. |

The standard cruise control (with brake function) will only brake when going down hill to maintain the set speed. It's actually CBC (cornering brake control) that steps in if you look like overcooking a corner. It measures speed and steering angle to estimate if you will make the radius. Active Cruise Control "paces" the car in front and will slow you to a stop (within limits) if the car in front slows/stops. To fit ACC you would need the Radar, the steering wheel buttons to set it and probably a whole shopping list of other hardware in between. You cannot simply code it.

Lol at this thread.
Cruise with brake simply brakes to keep you at the speed you set. Active cruise uses radar to maintain the distance behind the car in front, and no it does not use parking sensors lmfao! There is a rectangular radar assembly in the lower grill. So no you ain't in any way shape or form going to simply code it |
