I have Conti DWS-06 tires all the way around on our 2007 335i E92 with sport suspension and 255 35 R18's on the rear. In the year since we've had the tires we've only put 6,000 miles on the car.

The front tires are wearing great they still have 9/32" of tread left. The rears on the other hand are down to 5/32" which is going to equate to about 10,000 miles of tread life. The rears are wearing evenly and I have had the car aligned twice. The first time when I bought the tires and the second this past May when I had new shocks and struts put on it. I've been running 36 psi cold in the rears too.

My question is what kind of tire life is everyone getting out of their rear tires especially those with the factory staggered sport set up? 10,000 projected rear tire life miles seems awfully short to me.

I go through two sets of rears to every one set of front tires. I would say 10k-12k miles on a set of rears is normal.

jstang thanks for the reply. unrulyteach I would say yes I agree with you but the 335i has an open rear diff and staggered set up (no tire rotation). Only one wheel would be bald!

I've been running Kumho Ecsta 4x 255/35/18 tires on my 11' 335i and have 22k on them and they are now at 4/32", so I will need to replace them soon. They were pretty good tires and was fairly quiet. But now they are getting louder, probably because its almost time to replace. Usually ran them at 42psi which is the recommended psi on the door.

I'm taking the car into my local trusted indy on Friday to see if they can reduce the rear camber to closer to -0.5 degrees. Hoping that may increase rear tire life.

My indy was only able to change the rear camber to -0.12 degrees. Said that was the limit of adjustability available. It was -0.15 degrees before. Hope it will help with tire wear but not counting on it.

I guess the only way to dial in less camber would be to buy adjustable arms. We did that on our old E36 years ago.

Increase inflation pressure by 2-4PSI.
It will force the center of the wheel to have more contact even in a neg camber situation. Should a bias to wear in the center.

PS 255/35/19's and 265/30'/19's on my 335d live 6-12k on the rear...then again, nearly twice the torque, a lead foot, a propensity to break the rears loose in turns, and a minor rear ending courtesy of some dumb kid probably isnt doing me any favours... nor a taste for AAA rated Pirellis with atrocious treadwear figures...

Please don't do that; your car will hate you.

Toe effects wear WAY more than camber. Go back to a sensible camber setup in the rear and target toe closer to zero; 3/16" total toe in would probably be a good place to start. If you currently have more than that, then you've found your problem.
