After much agonising after the first 3.5k miles on my new 340i Touring, I relented and went for the MPPK with Carbon Tips and had it installed last Friday.

I came to the decision after seeing the price drop and wanting a Tourer as close to M car performance as possible.

So why didn't I buy an M4? A Mrs and a 7 month old baby girl with the unbelievable amount of infrastructure that comes with her...

The stock 340i is a fantastic performance car, but I needed to scratch the M car itch as much as I could.

I had the kit installed at Cooper Reading and the team there were brilliant. Knowledgable and knew the product inside out. It took them a day to fit. Unfortunately as I drove along the M4 I noticed an odd rattle - sounded like the exhaust was lose. It turns out that it needed a minor adjustment to the height below the heat shield. After another day in the garage, it was fixed. As I was told by the team, I was the MPPK Guinea pig for the dealership.

What are my thoughts... It's loud. Like very loud. Subtle in Comfort mode (a slightly less intense stock Sport mode noise) and then Rottweiler in Sport and Sport+. It's worth knowing that you can't buy the kit in Europe due to the noise level it has...

The jury was out to begin with - what was the Mrs going to say, is it too loud, will the baby sleep in the car now... But after a day I can fully say I love it. The exhaust note is wonderful, better than the M4 IMHO. The pops, bubbles are brilliant - I've never grinned so much driving through town. You can't help but giggle every time you touch the throttle.

The remap is noticeable too, bringing it up to 360bhp on paper and 500nm of torque does feel like it's under egging what it really is.

All in all I'm really pleased and would wholeheartedly recommend it. Why? Because you can switch it on and off. It's the best of both worlds whenever you want it.

Not.Helping.
Im still torn, with family on board I still often drive in sport as it has better ratios for changing up and by the sounds of it (literally!) that might not be an option if its that loud?

I'll grab a few in the morning, but £1,999 is a lot better than the £3.2k I was quoted 6 months ago!

I have it too, and i am from the south of Europe.

It s avaiable in many countries. At least Germany, France, Spain, Portugal. This ones for sure. Don't know why you have the idea that is not avaiable in Europe.

I've already showed a video accelerating to 1000 meters from standstill with Launch Control.

It's adictive, very good upgrade for the 340s

It is very loud in Sports mode, I can't reassure you on that one! But in Comfort now it is a lot lot more responsive after the remap - it feels like the old stock Sport mode.

Clearly the dealer got that one wrong about availability!

Great write up and I love the 'teaser video' ... Collecting the new beast next Friday complete with Kit.i won't have a basis of comparison as I have not driven the 340i before so it's great to read the before and after....especially the sound comparisons to the M4....

The 340i stock exhaust sounds better than the M4 so the MPPK must be great

My first reaction is that sounds naughty. But we like naughty things.

Would be interested to hear whether you've found it intrusive after a month or so. Hope not !

I've got a 5hr drive next Friday to Middlesbrough with the Mrs, her sister and the baby in the car... I'm preparing myself for the usual feedback about my driving style, with the added enjoyment of hearing their view about the noise from the exhaust.
